I have to share a little milestone for me and the HolisticGeek.com Website. In the month of October, I saw the hits to my site MORE THAN DOUBLE, and my unique visitors increase by nearly 30%. And since then, my daily unique visitors are surpassing my October average!

I have to credit Angie Glotzback, Social Media Virtual Assistant first for giving me a huge spark in her training and encouragement surrounding Twitter. Her style of teaching and consulting was so light and fun, that it motivated me to get over my resistance and fear of using Twitter within my blog.
Of course, I’ve hence learned that fear and resistance don’t bring a website more hits and visitors. Courage and ACTION bring in more visitors!
So what did I do in addition to Angie’s “nudge” into social media?
- I blogged more frequently! In order to use twitter and link up with social media, I first needed something to talk about!
- I put a link in almost all of my tweets – either to other “tweeps” that I follow, or to my website, or to content that I enjoy. Tweets without links in them don’t generate much traffic or sharing opportunities.
- I blogged about relevant information that others wanted to hear about! This is so very important. Think of the keywords you would search for in a topic, and include those in the title of your blog post, and have compelling things to say about it!
- I sent each blog post I made into the Twitterverse! I have a plugin installed on my WordPress site that tweets my posts automatically.
- I posted my tweets (including my blog posts) on other social networking sites (namely Facebook and LinkedIn).
- I added social interaction items to my WordPress website. Notice the new “Like” buttons and “Tweet” buttons at the top of posts? Notice the new opportunity for folks to comment using Facebook at the end of the post? The Facebook comments and Like buttons give me an opportunity to potentially reach 130 of anyone’s friends who comment or Like my post.
This month, I’m going to try to post and share more content in Facebook and LinkedIn Groups where I am a member. I’ll also keep doing what I’m doing!
Again, if you need training for Twitter and Social Media – Angie Glotzbach! I can’t recommend her enough. Then, contact HolisticGeek.com for WordPress integration of Social Media into your own blog or website!
