New Global Paradigms for Soloprenuers

Global ParadigmsI’ve been blogging quite a bit over at my other site, NorthernDruid.net, while I’m taking Julia Stewart and the School of Coaching Mastery’s Free Coach Training Program.  Today I thought I’d blog primarily about one of the topics here at HolisticGeek.com, as it completely applies to the way I do business, and the way I strive to work with my clients.

Julia Stewart speaks about a Paradigm being a kind of organized structural framework or “system” of thinking.  Using different paradigms of thought can actually help our clients and ourselves when we get “stuck” to think in different ways and approach a problem or situation from a different perspective.

I believe that many of the new “Global Paradigms” are impacting businesses and soloprenuers now at a very accelerated rate!  We live in an age now of fast-progressing technology, social networking, “the world at our fingertips”, and infinitely expanding knowledge and content is being shared day by day – minute by minute.  It seems like every year even for me, I have to take a step back to look at my business and what I’m learning – then determine what my clients might need now, and if I’m learning enough to be a good resource for them.

With more progress and more solutions to our needs, we also “create more problems,” as Julia Stewart says.

I think that problems are good for us!  They stretch our boundaries, and force us to learn, grow, and change.

Just a year ago, I joined Facebook (now I have over 500 friends to manage!).  Just a month ago, I started avidly using Twitter.  Just a week ago, I started integrating my WordPress comments with Facebook “Like Buttons” and comments, as well as integrated “tweet buttons” with each post.  And a new trend that’s started happening is that I’m actually coaching my clients more on strategies, offering opinions and suggestions, and even with some, I’m invited to really help them dig in and challenge their paradigms so that they can find out more about “what’s emerging in their business and themselves.”

One of my clients asked me right out a few weeks back, “Are you sure you’re just a web designer, Scott?”

So, I’m evolving, and hopefully through this evolution, I can also “bring my clients along” into this evolution.  In many of my “hats” that I wear – personally, creatively, my ‘job’ as a web consultant, and in my holistic health pursuits, I’ve stated to others that “I really want to LIVE in the future – not the past structures that don’t quite serve me.”

I’m all about the “New Story.”

A great quote that Julia shares is this:

“New Story thinking views life in terms of relationships, communities, and abundance – and the result is MORE for everyone.” (Lance Secretan, Author and Consultant)

As a soloprenuer myself, my most cherished clients are also soloprenuers.  Sometimes working with them feels more like FUN than work – because really, I feel like “we’re all in this together” as a group of people.  My soloprenuer clients ARE my referral stream (I can’t even remember the last time a ‘traditional’ large business I worked for referred a client to me), and I love sending others to work with these wonderful people who have incredible expertise and passion.  We all win, and we all share in the abundance of having and being MORE.

I truly believe that we’re entering the “age of the soloprenuer” and that business as we know it is changing – rapidly.  And really, it SHOULD change in the world we live in today.  How can we solve the “new problems” in our world with ‘old paradigm’ thinking, working, or being?  A New Story needs new leaders, new creators, and new visionaries – and as I say and believe:

We are the leaders we have been waiting for!

We’re the ones who are responsible for this “new economy” too in a sense. We created it. Really, we did! And now more than ever, it’s my opinion that many of us are exploring self-employment or forging new paths as soloprenuers as a way of taking that responsibility and moving forward NOW to create change.

It sure beats being upset, or whining and complaining. And really, I’ve not heard even ONE “New Story Soloprenuer” tell me that they “hate their job.”

Am I shifting your paradigm yet?

Now – YOU go create something passionately unique and New!  Change Yourself.  Change the Story.  Change the World! Because really - “We’re all in this together!”
