Hi, this site is terrific. My husband, myself and our homeschooled ten year old are looking for land in the south metro. More than land, we our looking for a place for seven generations. For the time being, we probably want to stay in the Twin Cities. So ideally we could buy 20 to 50 acres near other organic/permaculture farmers. We would be willing to have another farmer farm some of our land and instead of cash rent payments we would receive food. My email address is EconomicRenaissance@hotmail.com (which I do not check often) let us know if you of land. also we would like to visit.

What a giant step you are taking. I rejoice with you.

You might enjoy reading a talk I gave about Dorothy Day at a recent gathering of Catholic Worker communities in Europe:

Okay, I sent you some good energy for little to no snow! I'm quite proud of myself for adding your blog to my igoogle.com. Reading your entry and glancing over Motherfools website made me so wish to go back to Madison. I did appreciate Motherfools but not quite as much as after 7 years in Georgia. Do you know how happy I would be to find a place like that??

I hope things are wonderful, I will continue to follow your blog entries. Btw, your puppy is so freaking adorable!

Michael did put the dried cranberries in the granola, which give a good flavor boost. Other than the recipe on VegWeb, that's all he did!

Update on the shelf life. I spoke to my friend Elizabeth, who works in the wellness section of the co-op and is knowledgable about essential oils. The Dr. Bronner's soap has Vitamin E in it, so the soap is well preserved. Plus, the Tea Tree and Peppermint essential oils are both anti-bacterial and antifungal, and should keep the mixture fresh for a while with a shelf life of up to 3 months!

Just long enough to make the next batch! I may add some Vitamin E oil or Grapefruit Seed Extract to the next batch to give it a longer shelf life.
