Healing

Published by admin

I am committed to bringing holistic healing into my life, and am always searching for ways to both enhance my knowledge and experience. As well, I am very interested in the notion that they body is an Earth-based energy system. We are a part of the Earth - living in her ecosystem. Healing to me is multidimensional, and comes from within, rather than from a diagnosis, prescription, or “treatment plan” prescribed solely from another specialized professional. Healing begins with self-healing, and that self-healing is best when it comes from within.

Below are some of my writings about healing.

Shamanic Practice Journal (PDF)
In September of 2007, I attended a workshop entitled Introduction to Shamanic Earth Healing. Throughout this 4-day workshop and beyond, I engaged in many Shamanic “journeys” to gain knowledge and insight. This practice journal includes photos and drawings of my journeys and “counterpractice” while engaging in the natural world.

EcoShamanism and Earth Healing - Reflections and Reactions(PDF)
This writing summarizes my critical learning and reactions from a self-designed course called Ecoshamanism and Earth Healing. In addition to taking a 4-day workshop on the topic, I read many books on Ecoshamanism and Celtic spirituality. I also explore the ethics of practicing a form of healing which may or may not be of ones own cultural heritage.

A person’s “Soul Image” is that dream, reflection, or image which is recurring and central to the development of soul awakening. In a weekend workshop, I explored dreams about whales, and began to unravel my image of “The River Between.” Art and ritual were explored as a means of tapping into Soul Image.

Speak Peace in a world of Conflict - Reflections on Nonviolent Communication(PDF)
Are you a giraffe or a jackal? Are you expressing your needs and what is truly alive in you? It was my utmost privilege to have attended a workshop on Nonviolent Communication, given by its founder, Marshall Rosenburg. In this reflection paper, I outline my reactions to the workshop, my practice with Marshall, and my ongoing practice of Nonviolent Communication.

Hand in the RiverThe Garden - A Vision(PDF)
Imagine a learning community of holistic healers, where there is no set curriculum, and we all learn from one another in community. We dip our hands into rivers and streams to know the healing power of water. We walk barefoot, lightly and gracefully upon the earth, to massage her soil, and to heal those places that have suffered trauma. We honor all paths and healing philosophies, and strive to create our own unique synthesis of learning and healing methods.
