I want to express my gratitude to everyone involved in the production of The Secret Garden at The Duluth Playhouse! I had just an incredible experience being involved in this show! After not being in a community theatre production in 18 years (my last show was when I was 21 years old!), I have to say, the waiting was very sweet.
For those of you not familiar with the show, The Secret Garden is the story of young Mary Lennox, whose parents die of the cholera in India around the turn of the 20th century. She comes to live with her uncle in England, where she encounters ghosts from everyone’s past, and a “Secret Garden” that helps to provide healing and reconciliation for almost all characters in the show (living or dead!).
I was cast as Albert Lennox, Mary’s father, who comes back as a supportive “ghost” character. The role for me was a lot of fun, and and was a great fit for me as a singer too. I will forever cherish the memories of this show, the cast and crew, and the opportunity to come back to the theatre at age 40.
