How social media increased my web traffic
I have to share a little milestone for me and the HolisticGeek.com Website. In the month of October, I saw the hits to my site MORE THAN DOUBLE, and my unique visitors increase by nearly 30%. And since then, my daily unique visitors are surpassing my October average!

I have to credit Angie Glotzback, Social Media Virtual Assistant first for giving me a huge spark in her training and encouragement surrounding Twitter. Her style of teaching and consulting was so light and fun, that it motivated me to get over my resistance and fear of using Twitter within my blog.
Of course, I’ve hence learned that fear and resistance don’t bring a website more hits and visitors. Courage and ACTION bring in more visitors!
So what did I do in addition to Angie’s “nudge” into social media?

The concept of “Mastery” is starting to permeate my thoughts these days. When I speak to clients or potential clients these days, I’m often compelled to ask them the question, “What is your Master skill?” or “How do you see yourself putting your master skills to work in your business?” and then “How would you picture this mastery being shown and shared over the web?”
My favorite clients are the ones who go forward courageously with their businesses, no matter what changes come their way. These same people courageously change their web sites, add blogs, integrate social media, and adapt this external image to the changes and transformation happening within themselves.

I’ve been blogging quite a bit over at my other site, NorthernDruid.net, while I’m taking Julia Stewart and the School of Coaching Mastery’s Free Coach Training Program. Today I thought I’d blog primarily about one of the topics here at HolisticGeek.com, as it completely applies to the way I do business, and the way I strive to work with my clients.
Julia Stewart speaks about a Paradigm being a kind of organized structural framework or “system” of thinking. Using different paradigms of thought can actually help our clients and ourselves when we get “stuck” to think in different ways and approach a problem or situation from a different perspective.
I believe that many of the new “Global Paradigms” are impacting businesses and soloprenuers now at a very accelerated rate! We live in an age now of fast-progressing technology, social networking, “the world at our fingertips”, and infinitely expanding knowledge and content is being shared day by day – minute by minute. It seems like every year even for me, I have to take a step back to look at my business and what I’m learning – then determine what my clients might need now, and if I’m learning enough to be a good resource for them.

About a month ago, my friend Sheryl Snitkin (she’s also a client of mine) of Urban-Admin.com asked if she could interview me for her upcoming client eNewsletter. I naturally said yes!
As a Virtual Assistant, Sheryl provides administrative support for a wide array of individuals and small businesses. She has an infectious “soloprenuer spirit” and loves the color purple!
In the process of answering her questions, it was great for me to put into perspective where I’ve been and how I arrived to where I am now. So as an adjunct to my “About” page, I’ve added a sub-page with Sheryl’s interview underneath it. You may click there or read the entire interview by clicking the link below:

twitterverse (twít-er-vers) noun - The cyberspace area of Twitter. This naturally extends beyond twitter.com to anywhere you can twitter, which includes cell phones, mobile devices, and various social networking “apps” and applications.
I want to first thank Angie Glotzbach for introducing me to Twitter, and then also for some great “sit-down-consulting-time” to really dig into how I can use Twitter for my business. Angie is a Virtual Assistant who specializes in Social Media for businesses. If you are in the Twin Cities, you should contact her and have her share all of her tips and tricks with you! Oh, and you should follow her on Twitter too – (@angco_va).

I’ve recently had just an amazing time designing the website for LinkedMinnesota.com! We of course went with a WordPress solution, so that the other staff and volunteers could easily blog, edit pages, and collaborate on the project.
LinkedMinnesota.com is a website for the LinkedMinnesota networking group on LinkedIn. Through this new site, LinkedMinnesota will have guest bloggers, LinkedIn tips and tricks, and advertisements and announcements for their LinkedIn Lunches, Social Hours, and events like their Summer Extravaganza.
If you aren’t yet a LinkedIn member, I highly recommend it! LinkedIn is the premier social networking environment for professionals. You can engage in discussions, join groups with similar interests, create polls, post jobs, recommend other professionals for their work, and post your own profile or resumé! Best of all, LinkedIn is FREE!
Maybe I’ll see you all at the Summer Extravaganza!
